Responsibilities
- Process and audit pension benefit requests for employees retiring from New York and North Carolina state agencies on weekends.
- Review retirement applications, verify eligibility criteria, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (ERISA, FERS).
- Respond to inquiries from retirees and beneficiaries regarding pension calculations, status updates, and documentation requirements.
- Maintain accurate and secure electronic records of all pension transactions and beneficiary designations.
- Collaborate with the Claims Processing team to resolve discrepancies and expedite pending claims.
- Assist in the annual reconciliation of pension fund contributions and disbursements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Public Administration, Accounting, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in benefits administration, payroll, or government pension processing.
- Familiarity with state and federal retirement systems (FERS, NYSLRS, NCPERS) is highly preferred.
- Mandatory Requirement: Must be available to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) for this position.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect errors in complex data sets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with retirees and stakeholders.
