Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform general maintenance and repair of city streets, sidewalks, parks, and public buildings.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and assist with heavy construction equipment, including rollers, graders, loaders, and sweepers.
- Manual Labor: Load and unload construction materials, dig trenches, and perform manual labor tasks as directed by supervisors.
- Site Cleanup: Maintain a clean and safe job site by removing debris, trash, and hazardous materials.
- Quality Control: Assist in inspecting work areas to ensure compliance with safety standards and city specifications.
- Emergency Response: Respond to and assist with emergency maintenance requests during inclement weather or infrastructure failures.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; equivalent experience in a trade may be considered.
- License: Valid California Class C Driver’s License required; CDL preferred for some positions.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently; must pass a physical exam demonstrating the ability to perform strenuous labor.
- Experience: Prior experience in construction, landscaping, or public works is highly desirable.
- Availability: Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required by city operations.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; strong work ethic and teamwork skills.
