Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain official city council agendas, minutes, and legislative documentation
- Manage public records retention, disposal, and access compliance per Louisiana statutes
- Administer oaths, affirmations, and public record certifications for municipal transactions
- Oversee publication of legal notices and ordinance enactments in local media
- Coordinate municipal elections and voter registration processes
- Serve as custodian of the official city seal and municipal archives
- Provide administrative support to mayor and city council members
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- Minimum 3 years municipal government or records management experience
- Expertise in Louisiana Public Records Act (La. R.S. 44:1-101 et seq.)
- Proficiency in council meeting software (e.g., Legistar) and document management systems
- Strong written communication skills for drafting ordinances and resolutions
- Notary public certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
