Responsibilities
- Prepare, distribute, and archive official minutes for City Council and Board of Commissioners meetings.
- Manage the City's official records system, ensuring compliance with retention schedules and public records laws.
- Coordinate public outreach initiatives and manage correspondence from citizens and stakeholders.
- Oversee the administration of local elections and ensure voter registration compliance.
- Prepare agenda packets and supporting documentation for all council meetings.
- Interpret and apply municipal codes, ordinances, and state regulations to daily operations.
- Supervise and train clerical staff and temporary workers as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in municipal government, clerical administration, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database management software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of North Carolina public records laws and open government principles.
