Responsibilities
- Manage official city records, ordinances, resolutions, and meeting minutes with meticulous accuracy
- Administer oaths of office and notary public services for municipal officials
- Coordinate public information requests and ensure compliance with open records laws
- Support City Council meetings by preparing agendas, packets, and documentation
- Maintain municipal election records and voter registration databases
- Oversee records retention policies and digital archiving systems
- Act as primary liaison between citizens, departments, and elected officials
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of municipal government records management experience
- Advanced knowledge of North Carolina public records and open meeting laws
- Proficiency in records management software (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Notary Public certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Experience with municipal council meeting procedures
