Responsibilities
- Oversee all City Council meetings, including agenda preparation, minute documentation, and ordinance management
- Administer public records requests and maintain compliance with open records laws
- Manage municipal records retention and digital archiving systems
- Coordinate elections and voter registration processes with Wake County Board of Elections
- Serve as the official custodian of city seals, contracts, and legislative documents
- Lead public records training for city staff and departments
- Facilitate oaths of office for elected officials and appointed commissioners
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of municipal clerk or records management experience
- Certification as a Municipal Clerk (CMC) or Registered Municipal Clerk (RMC) preferred
- Expertise in North Carolina public records and open meetings laws
- Advanced proficiency with document management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with strict deadlines
