Responsibilities
- Oversee all city records management, including document preservation and digital archiving
- Administer municipal elections and voter registration processes
- Prepare official city documents, resolutions, and meeting minutes
- Manage public records requests and ensure compliance with open meeting laws
- Lead the city's records retention and destruction programs
- Serve as clerk to the Oakland City Council and public commissions
- Develop public-facing civic engagement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- 5+ years experience in municipal government records management
- California Municipal Clerk certification or equivalent credentials
- Expertise in election administration and voter systems
- Proficiency with records management software (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Deep understanding of California Public Records Act and Brown Act
- Exceptional written communication and public speaking abilities
