Responsibilities
- Maintain official city records, ordinances, and council minutes ensuring legal compliance and accessibility
- Prepare agendas, packets, and documentation for City Council and commission meetings
- Administer oaths, public records requests, and voter registration services
- Oversee municipal elections and ballot initiatives in coordination with Alameda County
- Manage document retention systems and digital archives for long-term accessibility
- Provide legislative support and procedural guidance to elected officials and staff
- Act as custodian of the city seal and authenticate official documents
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of municipal government or records management experience
- Expertise in California Public Records Act (CPRA) and Brown Act compliance
- Advanced proficiency in document management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex legislative procedures
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation preferred
- Exceptional written communication and public presentation abilities
