In this pivotal role, you will serve as the principal officer for the City Council, ensuring the integrity of official records and facilitating transparent governance.
As the face of our municipal operations, you will manage public information requests, oversee the official minutes of council meetings, and maintain the highest standards of archival management. Responsibilities
- Oversee the management and preservation of all official City records, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal retention schedules.
- Prepare and maintain accurate meeting minutes, agendas, and ordinances for the City Council and various boards and commissions.
- Serve as the primary liaison for the public, responding to information requests under the Texas Open Records Act with professionalism and accuracy.
- Manage the election process logistics, including voter registration and candidate filing requirements, ensuring adherence to election laws.
- Coordinate and support special events, including the Mayor's Office and civic ceremonies, acting as the official protocol officer.
- Supervise and mentor a team of administrative staff, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
- Ensure all municipal communications are clear, concise, and accessible to the San Antonio community.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, or History preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in municipal government, records management, or executive administrative support.
- Proven proficiency in document management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.
- Strong understanding of Texas Open Meetings and Open Records Acts is highly desirable.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage complex schedules and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulations to the general public.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, high-profile government environment.
