Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive zoning ordinances and land use policies
- Analyze development proposals for compliance with city codes and community vision
- Lead public outreach initiatives including community meetings and stakeholder workshops
- Prepare environmental assessments and impact studies for major projects
- Collaborate with engineering and parks departments on infrastructure planning
- Manage GIS mapping and spatial analysis for urban development
- Write and present complex planning reports to Planning Commission and City Council
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of municipal planning experience
- Kansas AICP certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Expertise in zoning codes and land use regulations
- Advanced proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS Pro preferred)
- Strong public speaking and facilitation skills
- Experience with NEPA documentation and environmental review
- Valid Kansas driver's license
