Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity measures to protect VA networks and systems
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify security risks
- Monitor security alerts and respond to cybersecurity incidents in accordance with federal protocols
- Develop security policies, procedures, and training materials for staff
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure system architecture and deployment
- Stay current with emerging threats and recommend mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity standards and regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of cybersecurity experience in federal or regulated environments
- Active CISSP, Security+, or CompTIA CySA+ certification
- Proficiency in SIEM tools (Splunk, ArcSight) and vulnerability scanners
- Knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 and FISMA compliance requirements
- Experience with risk assessment frameworks (FAIR, OCTAVE)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
