Role Overview:
In this entry-level role, you will serve as the first point of contact for the public and support essential administrative functions within the department. You will gain hands-on experience in government operations, compliance, and client services while working in the heart of Springfield.
Responsibilities
- Manage high-volume incoming inquiries via phone, email, and in-person, providing accurate information and referrals.
- Perform data entry and maintenance of confidential case files and databases in compliance with state privacy laws.
- Prepare and organize meeting materials, reports, and correspondence for department leadership.
- Assist in the coordination of community outreach events and program enrollment activities.
- Review and verify documentation for program eligibility, ensuring adherence to state guidelines.
- Maintain a professional and organized office environment, including filing, inventory management, and scheduling.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and computer navigation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-service oriented mindset.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive government information.
- Valid Illinois driver's license and reliable transportation are preferred.
