Responsibilities
- Assist in Budget Analysis: Support senior analysts in the preparation and review of agency budgets, ensuring compliance with city financial policies and regulations.
- Data Management: Collect, organize, and maintain large volumes of financial and operational data using government databases and Excel spreadsheets.
- Research & Reporting: Conduct research on public policy trends and economic indicators to provide insights for decision-makers.
- Document Preparation: Draft memos, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external partners with high attention to detail.
- Compliance Support: Monitor project timelines and deliverables to ensure agencies meet statutory deadlines and reporting requirements.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries from department heads and staff regarding budgetary processes.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, Finance, or a related field required. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Experience: Entry-level role; 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new government software systems quickly.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex data to non-technical audiences.
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
- Availability: Ability to work full-time during standard business hours in our Manhattan office.
