Job Overview:
Our Parks & Recreation Workers are responsible for the general maintenance, cleaning, and safety of parks, recreational facilities, and athletic fields. Whether you are helping with a community event or performing routine grounds maintenance, your work keeps Baltimore beautiful and functional.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of park facilities, restrooms, and recreational areas by sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of recreational programs, sports leagues, and community events.
- Mow, rake, and maintain athletic fields, playgrounds, and walking trails to ensure safe conditions.
- Operate light maintenance equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and utility vehicles.
- Monitor park facilities for vandalism, safety hazards, or needed repairs; report issues immediately to supervisors.
- Interact positively with the public and assist visitors with park information and directions.
- Assist in the stocking of vending machines and maintenance of picnic areas.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and cold.
- Valid Driver's License is a plus but not required.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to public service.
- No criminal record is required (background check will be conducted).
