As a vital member of the Parks & Recreation Department, you will help maintain the green spaces and facilities that Houstonians rely on for health, leisure, and community connection. If you enjoy working outdoors and taking pride in your work, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and clean parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, and public facilities to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
• Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of recreational programs, events, and community gatherings.
• Perform routine landscaping duties, including mowing, trimming, planting, and irrigation maintenance.
• Monitor park areas to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and safety standards.
• Respond to public inquiries and provide exceptional customer service to residents and visitors.
• Operate light maintenance equipment, such as leaf blowers, mowers, and tractors, following all safety protocols.
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify and report necessary repairs.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Valid Texas Driver's License and a clean driving record are preferred.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Basic knowledge of gardening tools and landscaping equipment is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on seasonal demands.
