Job Summary:
As an Entry Level Pension Plan Specialist, you will be responsible for processing pension benefit applications, conducting eligibility assessments, and providing guidance to members regarding their retirement options. You will work closely with senior analysts to ensure compliance with state regulations and maintain accurate records of member accounts.
Responsibilities
- Review and process incoming pension benefit applications and retirement requests with high accuracy.
- Conduct initial eligibility assessments and verify documentation against state regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to members via phone, email, and in-person inquiries regarding retirement planning.
- Maintain and update comprehensive member records in the state pension database.
- Assist in the calculation of retirement estimates and monthly benefit payments.
- Collaborate with internal legal and financial teams to interpret and apply pension laws.
- Identify trends in member inquiries and suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or 60 college credits preferred).
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect errors in data entry and documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with database management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive financial and personal data.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Valid California driver’s license and access to a vehicle may be required for occasional field visits.
