Responsibilities
- Analyze and manage state pension plan data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Oversee the processing of retirement applications and the calculation of monthly benefits for retirees.
- Conduct audits of pension records to identify discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
- Collaborate with government stakeholders to improve pension plan structures and member communication strategies.
- Provide expert consultation to employees regarding retirement eligibility, survivor benefits, and withdrawal options.
- Monitor legislative changes affecting public pension plans and advise leadership on necessary adjustments.
- Train junior analysts and support staff on pension administration protocols and software systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in pension administration, government benefits, or actuarial science.
- Deep understanding of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) and state government pension laws.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and pension management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or custom government systems).
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and regulatory guidelines.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex pension concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to travel to various government offices or conferences as required (Atlanta, GA or Florida locations).
