Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, swimming pools, and childcare facilities
- Investigate public health complaints and environmental hazards
- Enforce state and local public health regulations with professionalism
- Develop educational materials for businesses and residents
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on public health initiatives
- Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation
- Participate in emergency response for environmental incidents
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of environmental health inspection experience
- Valid North Carolina Environmental Health Specialist certification
- Strong knowledge of NC Food Code and OSHA regulations
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently and in variable field conditions
- Valid NC driver's license with clean driving record
- Proficiency in data collection software and mobile devices
