Job Description
Join the Bureau of Land Management in Denver as an Environmental Specialist to protect our nation's natural resources. This critical role involves coordinating federal environmental compliance, managing wildlife habitats, and developing sustainable land management strategies. You'll work at the intersection of conservation policy and field implementation, ensuring BLM's mission is achieved while adhering to NEPA, ESA, and other federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Lead environmental impact assessments and NEPA documentation for complex land-use projects
- Design and implement wildlife habitat restoration programs across 2.5 million acres of public land
- Coordinate with federal, state, and tribal agencies on environmental compliance matters
- Analyze ecological data to inform land management decisions and policy recommendations
- Develop mitigation strategies for energy development and recreational activities
- Train field staff on environmental protocols and regulatory requirements
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for congressional stakeholders
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or Natural Resource Management
- 3+ years of federal environmental compliance experience
- Expertise in NEPA documentation and ESA Section 7 consultations
- GIS proficiency with ArcGIS and remote sensing analysis
- Strong knowledge of Colorado's ecosystems and wildlife species
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance
- Experience leading cross-functional environmental teams
- Valid driver's license and willingness for occasional field travel
