Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze security incidents across federal networks during weekend coverage
- Implement and maintain security protocols for classified and unclassified systems
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on critical infrastructure
- Collaborate with cross-agency teams during emergency response operations
- Document security incidents and prepare detailed compliance reports
- Stay current with emerging threats and recommend mitigation strategies
- Train junior staff on security best practices and federal compliance requirements
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and active security clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in network security or incident response
- CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification required
- Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53 security controls framework
- Experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently during weekend shifts
- Knowledge of federal IT security policies (FISMA, FedRAMP)
