Responsibilities
- Plan Administration: Manage daily operations of defined benefit pension plans, including enrollment, termination, and in-service withdrawals.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure strict adherence to ERISA regulations, IRS guidelines, and OPM requirements through accurate record-keeping.
- Actuarial Support: Assist actuaries in preparing valuation reports and analyzing funding status for pension plans.
- Employee Assistance: Provide clear, compassionate guidance to federal employees regarding pension eligibility, vesting schedules, and benefit calculations.
- System Management: Maintain and update HRIS and pension administration software to ensure data integrity.
- Regulatory Updates: Monitor legislative changes affecting federal retirement systems and adjust internal processes accordingly.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in federal benefits administration or pension management.
- Certifications: CFP or ERPA certification is a strong plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms (e.g., SAP, Workday).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and CSRS.
- Attributes: Exceptional analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive financial data with absolute confidentiality.
