Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed analysis of federal employee service records to calculate accurate pension benefits under FERS and CSRS plans.
- Review and process retirement applications, ensuring all documentation meets OPM (Office of Personnel Management) standards.
- Provide expert consultation to federal employees regarding retirement eligibility, survivor benefits, and health insurance continuation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive personnel and financial data.
- Collaborate with HR and Payroll departments to resolve discrepancies in pension calculations.
- Stay updated on changes in federal legislation impacting retirement plans and communicate these changes to staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pension administration, federal benefits, or actuarial science.
- Strong working knowledge of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and specialized HRIS or pension software.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-specialists.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to pass a background investigation.
