In this role, you will serve as a key point of contact for beneficiaries, providing expert guidance on retirement benefits, survivor annuities, and service credit calculations. Responsibilities
- Analyze and process federal pension claims, ensuring all documentation meets eligibility requirements.
- Calculate monthly pension benefits and survivor annuities using established actuarial formulas and agency guidelines.
- Provide clear, empathetic, and accurate responses to beneficiary inquiries via phone, email, and written correspondence.
- Review and reconcile discrepancies in federal pay history and service credit records.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date digital records in the agency’s benefits management system.
- Collaborate with HR and Payroll teams to resolve complex retirement issues.
- Stay current on changes to federal retirement laws, FERS, and CSRS regulations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in federal benefits administration, retirement planning, or a related financial services role.
- Strong working knowledge of FERS (Federal Employees Retirement System) and CSRS (Civil Service Retirement System).
- Proficiency with government benefits software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail to prevent calculation errors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex topics to non-experts.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote setting with strict adherence to deadlines.
