Responsibilities
- Analyze and process federal pension applications and benefit claims with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
- Verify complex data sets related to retirement eligibility, service history, and financial calculations.
- Communicate effectively with beneficiaries and stakeholders via phone and written correspondence to explain benefit decisions.
- Ensure strict adherence to federal privacy laws (e.g., Privacy Act) and Social Security Administration policies.
- Identify discrepancies in records and initiate necessary corrections or escalations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files in secure electronic systems.
- Collaborate with the day-shift team to ensure seamless workflow transitions.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required for federal employment.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits processing, or actuarial analysis.
- Strong knowledge of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) or Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and federal case management software.
- Ability to work the assigned night shift schedule (e.g., 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM) consistently.
