Responsibilities
- Manage and Update GIS Data: Maintain, update, and troubleshoot spatial databases and geodatabases to ensure accuracy and integrity of county records.
- Map Production: Design, edit, and produce high-quality maps and visualizations for internal use and public distribution using ArcGIS software.
- Data Collection: Assist in the collection of field data using GPS units and handheld devices, verifying accuracy in the field and in the office.
- System Integration: Collaborate with IT staff to integrate GIS data with other county systems and ensure seamless data flow.
- Quality Assurance: Perform routine quality control checks on data layers and mapping products to ensure compliance with standards.
- Support Services: Provide technical support and training to county staff regarding GIS tools and data interpretation.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in GIS analysis, cartography, or database management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro) and advanced knowledge of SQL and database management.
- Software Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word) and experience with web-based mapping platforms (e.g., ArcGIS Online) is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
