Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the city's core IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and virtualization environments.
- Implement and enforce robust cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive citizen data and municipal assets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and troubleshoot software solutions for government operations.
- Monitor system performance, analyze logs, and troubleshoot complex technical issues to minimize downtime.
- Ensure strict compliance with North Carolina state regulations and federal government IT standards.
- Conduct regular system audits and perform preventive maintenance to ensure optimal functionality.
- Document technical processes and provide training to junior staff and government stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in systems administration or a related technical role.
- Proven experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and virtualization technologies.
- Strong knowledge of database management systems (SQL) and scripting languages (Python or PowerShell).
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or CISSP are highly preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical government officials.
