Responsibilities
- Execute heavy civil construction projects including road repairs, drainage systems, and bridge maintenance
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, bulldozers, and asphalt pavers with precision
- Ensure strict OSHA compliance and maintain safety protocols on all work sites
- Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret blueprints and technical specifications
- Perform concrete work, asphalt laying, and utility installation according to municipal standards
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance routines
- Document project progress and material usage for compliance reporting
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of heavy construction or public works labor experience
- Valid Michigan Class A CDL license with airbrake endorsement
- OSHA 30-hour certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Proficient in operating heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, rollers)
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience with municipal infrastructure projects preferred
