Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, grading, and hauling materials on public works sites.
- Operate and maintain light to heavy construction equipment such as loaders, backhoes, and rollers.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of roadways, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Ensure all work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations and OSHA standards.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment from trucks and trailers.
- Perform traffic control duties, including flagging and signage placement.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls during severe weather events.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus but not always required for entry-level labor.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly and stand/walk for extended periods outdoors.
- Basic knowledge of construction safety procedures and traffic control signs.
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and snow.
