Responsibilities
- Perform general labor tasks including digging, loading, and unloading materials.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of public infrastructure, roads, and drainage systems.
- Operate light to heavy machinery and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Ensure work sites are clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors regarding daily tasks.
- Respond to emergency public service needs during inclement weather events.
- Inspect work areas for hazards and report unsafe conditions immediately.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor for extended periods (walking, lifting, standing).
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Basic knowledge of construction or landscaping tools and equipment is a plus.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Works certification within a specified timeframe.
