Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of manual labor tasks including road paving, patching, and surface preparation.
- Operate light to heavy construction equipment (such as rollers, loaders, and backhoes) under direct supervision.
- Assist in traffic control and flagging operations to ensure job site safety.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and debris from trucks and transport them to work sites.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to all OSHA safety regulations and company protocols.
- Perform basic site measurements and grading tasks as directed by foremen or engineers.
- Respond to emergency public works requests, such as storm drain clearing or pothole repair.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or public works is a plus but not always required.
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License (Class C) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift, carry, and push heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Physical stamina to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, rain, and cold.
- Basic knowledge of construction safety standards and traffic control procedures.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are mandatory.
