Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement complex information technology systems to support VA mission objectives.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and ensure 99.9% uptime for critical infrastructure.
- Enforce federal security protocols and compliance standards to protect sensitive veteran data and information systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize legacy systems and integrate new technologies.
- Conduct regular system audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide advanced technical support and training to internal staff and stakeholders on new system implementations.
- Document all technical processes, configurations, and changes in accordance with VA record-keeping requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in information technology systems administration or network engineering.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, server management, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Familiarity with federal IT frameworks such as FedRAMP and NIST guidelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Veterans Affairs suitability or secret clearance.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
