Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the county’s local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN), ensuring 99.9% uptime.
- Configure, install, patch, and manage servers, virtualization environments (VMware/Hyper-V), and operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues to minimize downtime.
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity protocols, including firewalls, antivirus, and data encryption to protect sensitive county data.
- Collaborate with department heads to assess technology needs and recommend scalable solutions.
- Provide tier 2 and tier 3 technical support and training for county staff.
- Document all system configurations, changes, and incidents in accordance with ITIL standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in systems administration, network engineering, or a related IT field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Valid CompTIA Network+ or higher certification (e.g., CCNA, Security+) is highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Azure AD administration.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical jargon for non-technical staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
