Responsibilities
- Sort and Deliver Mail: Efficiently sort and deliver mail and packages along established routes in a timely manner.
- Customer Interaction: Provide professional and friendly service to customers at the Post Office and during door-to-door delivery.
- Vehicle Operation: Safely operate a motor vehicle (van or truck) to transport mail and equipment.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and traffic laws to ensure personal and public safety.
- Physical Stamina: Lift and carry packages weighing up to 70 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate delivery records and handle incoming/outgoing mail with care.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status.
- Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required for City Carrier positions.
- Education: A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- Criminal Background: Must pass a criminal history background check and a drug test.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to pass a physical examination demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to read and write English.
