Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and construction tasks on public roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Operate heavy equipment, including dump trucks, graders, and street sweepers, in compliance with safety regulations.
- Inspect municipal facilities and grounds to identify potential hazards or maintenance needs.
- Respond to citizen service requests and emergency work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with city crews and contractors on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of daily work activities and materials used.
- Ensure the proper care and maintenance of tools, vehicles, and shop equipment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; technical certification is a plus.
- Valid Tennessee Class D Driverβs License required; Class A CDL preferred.
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or public works maintenance.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to public safety and community service.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; ability to read blueprints or schematics is an asset.
