Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections and maintenance of municipal facilities, roads, and public spaces
- Operate heavy machinery and specialized equipment for construction/repair projects
- Respond to urgent infrastructure failures during extreme weather events
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement preventive maintenance programs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Document maintenance activities and prepare progress reports for city leadership
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on maintenance or construction experience
- Valid DC Class C driver's license with clean driving record
- Certification in heavy equipment operation (e.g., forklift, excavator)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in all weather conditions
- Basic plumbing and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and emergency response experience
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States
