Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance of city parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields including mowing, irrigation, and equipment repair
- Operate heavy machinery (tractors, graders, dump trucks) for road maintenance and snow removal
- Conduct facility inspections and preventative maintenance on public buildings
- Respond to emergency service calls during severe weather events
- Manage waste collection routes and recycling program operations
- Collaborate with engineering department on infrastructure improvement projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years groundskeeping/construction experience
- Valid Illinois Class B CDL license within 60 days of hire
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to operate power tools and heavy machinery safely
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Basic knowledge of landscaping and irrigation systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
