Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and cleaning of public buildings, parks, and facilities to ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery, power tools, and hand tools required for landscaping, snow removal, and general maintenance tasks.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during adverse weather conditions to ensure public safety and accessibility.
- Inspect public infrastructure for potential hazards, damage, or code violations and report findings to supervisors promptly.
- Ensure strict adherence to all city safety regulations, OSHA standards, and environmental policies.
- Interact with the public and other city departments courteously and professionally to address inquiries or coordinate projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Tennessee Class D Driver’s License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and working in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience in public works, landscaping, construction, or general maintenance is highly preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols and the proper operation of power tools and equipment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required by city operations.
