Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on city roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery including asphalt compactors, jackhammers, and trenchers
- Respond to emergency infrastructure repairs during extreme weather events
- Conduct safety inspections of public works sites and equipment
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and material usage
- Train junior staff on proper equipment operation and safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid California Class C driver's license with clean record
- Minimum 2 years experience in construction or public works maintenance
- Certification in OSHA construction safety preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Proficiency with hand tools and power equipment
- Basic knowledge of CAD or GIS systems
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
