Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems, including manholes, valves, and mains.
- Respond to emergency service calls and repair leaks or breaks in the municipal water infrastructure efficiently and safely.
- Operate heavy machinery and utility vehicles, including backhoes, excavators, and vacuum trucks, in accordance with all safety regulations.
- Clear obstructions from storm drains and rights-of-way to prevent flooding and maintain public safety.
- Assist in the installation and repair of water meters and service lines for residential and commercial customers.
- Document all maintenance activities and material usage accurately in digital logs and work orders.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and OSHA guidelines to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and your team.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in public works, utility maintenance, or a related field.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems, construction equipment, or plumbing principles is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a crew.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
