Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city streets, sidewalks, traffic signals, and public facilities to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Emergency Response: Respond to and resolve emergency service requests related to public works, including pothole repairs, street sweeping, and debris removal.
- Machinery Operation: Safely operate and maintain heavy equipment such as dump trucks, jackhammers, rollers, and front-end loaders.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSHA safety regulations, traffic control protocols, and city policies during all work operations.
- Inspection & Reporting: Conduct inspections of public infrastructure and document work performed accurately in digital logs and field reports.
- Community Engagement: Interact with residents and community members professionally, addressing inquiries regarding public services and infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Licensure: Valid California Class C Driverβs License is mandatory.
- Experience: Previous experience in public works, construction, landscaping, or general maintenance preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy objects, operating power tools, and working in various weather conditions.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, ability to read blueprints or schematics, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Availability: Willingness to work overtime, evenings, and weekends as required by city needs.
