Responsibilities
- Perform general construction and maintenance tasks including excavation, paving, and patching of city streets.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment such as backhoes, rollers, dump trucks, and forklifts in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of public parks, drainage systems, and water infrastructure.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment from delivery trucks.
- Ensure all work sites are clean, organized, and comply with OSHA safety standards.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls during inclement weather, such as snow and ice removal.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project progress and site conditions.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Kansas Class C Driver's License (Class B or CDL preferred with appropriate endorsements).
- Ability to perform physical labor including lifting 50+ pounds repeatedly and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Basic knowledge of construction safety protocols and equipment operation is a plus but not required (on-the-job training provided).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
