Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a variety of heavy and light machinery, including dump trucks, backhoes, and pavement breakers.
- Perform manual labor tasks such as pothole repair, sidewalk maintenance, and debris removal.
- Assist in traffic control operations, including setting up cones, signs, and flagging duties.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA safety regulations and departmental policies on-site.
- Inspect work areas for hazards and report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Clean work sites, maintain equipment, and perform routine preventative maintenance checks.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Driver’s License (CDL preferred but not always required for entry-level).
- Physical ability to perform strenuous labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or municipal public works is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of basic safety protocols and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
