Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair tasks on public infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Operate heavy machinery, such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, and excavators, safely and efficiently.
- Maintain and clean public parks, recreational facilities, and green spaces to ensure a welcoming environment for residents.
- Assist with waste management, recycling collection, and snow removal during inclement weather.
- Respond to emergency situations and public service requests promptly and professionally.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, OSHA standards, and departmental policies.
- Inspect work areas to identify potential hazards and report maintenance needs.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Virginia Class C Driver's License with a good driving record is mandatory.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot simple equipment issues.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Pass a background check and drug screening.
- Strong commitment to public service and teamwork.
