Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs of public facilities, parks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery including trucks, tractors, and landscaping equipment
- Respond to emergency weather events (hurricanes, floods) for infrastructure stabilization
- Conduct safety inspections of public spaces and report hazards
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on municipal projects
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
- Provide excellent customer service to residents and businesses
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Valid Louisiana driver's license with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour certification preferred (training provided)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Experience with construction tools or heavy machinery preferred
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights/weekends during emergencies
- Pass background check and drug screening
