As a Parks and Recreation Worker, you'll be the heart of Wichita's green spaces – maintaining pristine facilities, organizing family-friendly events, and ensuring safe, welcoming environments where memories are made. Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain park equipment including mowers, trimmers, and irrigation systems
- Set up/break down event venues for festivals, sports leagues, and community gatherings
- Perform daily facility inspections and report maintenance needs
- Lead recreational programs including youth sports and senior activities
- Enforce safety protocols and provide exceptional visitor assistance
- Collaborate with cross-department teams on park improvement projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years grounds maintenance experience
- Valid Kansas driver's license with clean record
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong communication skills and conflict resolution abilities
- Basic knowledge of turf management and horticulture practices
- Experience with event coordination preferred
