Responsibilities
- Monitor Emergency Systems: Receive and prioritize incoming calls via phone and radio, dispatching appropriate police, fire, and medical units to incidents.
- Public Relations: Interact with the public in a professional and empathetic manner, providing critical information during emergencies.
- Data Entry: Accurately input incident reports and information into CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) systems and other law enforcement databases.
- Resource Coordination: Coordinate with field units, fire departments, and EMS agencies to ensure the safe and efficient resolution of incidents.
- Shift Work: Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24/7 coverage of the city.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service, call centers, or public safety is preferred but not mandatory for the Trainee level.
- Skills: Must have excellent typing skills (minimum 35 WPM) and proficiency with computers.
- Communication: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Clearance: Must pass a background check, drug screen, and medical examination.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
