Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize incoming emergency and non-emergency calls from the public.
- Dispatch police, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) units to incident locations.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date logs of all calls for service and radio traffic.
- Provide critical information to field personnel, including maps, weather updates, and unit availability.
- Monitor police radio communications and scanner frequencies for suspicious activity.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel and mentor junior staff.
- Perform administrative duties related to case file management and data entry.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under high-stress situations.
- Basic computer proficiency and typing skills (30+ WPM).
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
