Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls from the public efficiently and calmly.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents using a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date incident logs and records.
- Provide critical information to first responders, including location details and status updates.
- Monitor police radio frequencies for officer needs and update the status of units in the field.
- Assist the public with general information requests and direct them to appropriate resources.
- Perform shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the department.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- A valid Class C Driverβs License is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- The ability to remain calm and composed under extreme pressure.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
- Willingness to undergo a thorough background investigation, drug screening, and medical evaluation.
- Experience with computer systems and ability to learn new software quickly.
