Responsibilities
- Call Handling: Receive and process incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls with high accuracy and composure.
- Unit Dispatch: Utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS units to active scenes.
- Information Management: Maintain precise logs of all calls, incidents, and resource deployments in accordance with departmental standards.
- Crisis Support: Provide life-saving instructions to callers in distress until help arrives on scene.
- Interagency Coordination: Communicate effectively with neighboring jurisdictions and other public safety agencies.
- System Monitoring: Monitor police radio frequencies and surveillance systems to identify potential threats and alert personnel.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- License: Valid North Carolina Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Typing Speed: Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute is required.
- Character: Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph, and drug screen.
- Mental Acuity: Strong decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm under extreme pressure.
