Responsibilities
- Monitor and Dispatch: Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls via radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Unit Coordination: Determine the appropriate response of law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel based on the nature of the call.
- Information Management: Accurately record and transmit vital information to responding units and maintain detailed logs and reports.
- Database Maintenance: Update and verify offender and vehicle information in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and local databases.
- Communication: Provide clear, calm, and concise instructions to field personnel and citizens during critical situations.
- Equipment Operation: Monitor and troubleshoot radio equipment and computer systems to ensure seamless communication flow.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service, call center, or emergency dispatch is highly preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in typing and computer operations is mandatory.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Availability: Must be available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Background: Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, including a medical examination and drug screen.
